countryman e2

February 23, 2010 by Adam

Countryman has released the latest of their E series: the E2 earset.

Similar to its relative E6 earset, the E2 offers a uni-directional element but with a shorter boom, making it nearly invisible from stage distance and more naturally comfortable for the presenter. Because of its tight location, isolation remains a key strongpoint for this earset, and the unit is just about the same retail price as the E6!

The E2, however, is not compatible with the E6 cables, but they can still connect with Shure (TA4F) and Sennheiser (3.5mm) bodypacks.

Logan is crazy. When he’s tired he likes to rub his eyes and his face…rather aggressively, too. As a result his young skin gets chaffed, and he’s rubbed most of his newborn hair off. Even worse, if he gets his mittens off of his hands during the night, he scratches his face like (appropriately) Wolverine.

So, we’ve taken matters to a new level to prevent Logan from rubbing his face completely off…

the Logan log

And, no, I’m not talking about his dirty diapers.

Logan, at 3 months and 2 weeks now weighs 17 pounds and is 24-1/2 inches long. He’s already outgrown a lot of his newborn clothes and doesn’t even fit into some 6-9 month clothing! Little chunker is eating 6-7 ounces of formula every 3 hours or so. He recognizes Mom and Dad, loves watching TV, kicking and sleeping through the night (on occasion).

Altona’s VGA-HDMI converter

February 19, 2010 by Adam

Altona Technologies is introducing the AT-HDVieW, a VGA-HDMI scaler/converter that is USB-powered and supports resolutions up to 1920×1200. It also fashions a 3.5mm plug to embed audio through HDMI. The downside, though, is the image is up-converted (not true HD), and the refresh rate is only 60Hz. Overall, pretty slick considering you don’t need multiple cables and a huge AC adapter.

spiritual food

February 17, 2010 by Adam

Jeff Gaines, [a] San Francisco pastor and spiritual director . . . told us that most people who “come to church” are mostly looking for spiritual direction.

What we actually give them, however, might be an exegetical explanation of the Last Supper or enrichment programs that “teach Biblical values” to their children. But what they really want is personal spiritual direction so that they can go forth and live the lives they are supposed to live. I believe this is true.

A while back, I met a guy who told me that last year he decided to visit a church on Easter. He had not been in a church building for about a decade. He was hoping to experience something that moved him. But what he heard was a sermon about the scholarly theories that Jesus was actually killed on a Wednesday. Whatever.

All he wanted was a sense of blessing and a personal glimpse or experience of The Holy. But what he got was “religion.”

The message of Jesus is the only cure for religion.
I believe that people want Jesus, not religion.

CATALYST interviews Seth Godin

CATALYST interviews Seth Godin

Seth Godin describes doing art as “changing people, connecting to people in a way that [causes] positive change to occur . . . Any time you’re acting in a way where there is no manual, where there is no instruction book…[and] you’re making change happen.”

“The problem is,” Seth remarks, “too many people want the instruction book, they want to be told what to do. But the minute you follow the instructions, you’re no longer an artist.”

Some people look toward leaders as people who call the shots, give instruction, keep things afloat. But I think artists in leadership positions have a greater calling in inspiring those who follow, equipping those who want to take action, and take things to a new level.

“Change is not only likely,” according to Barbara Sher, “it’s inevitable.” Ghandi said, “Be the change that you want to see in the world.” Thoreau said, “All change is a miracle to contemplate, but it is a miracle which is taking place every instant.”

But if you can harness change, people lives can be revolutionized, and GOD has an “in” to their heart. That’s my great challenge.

latest from Canon D-SLR!

Speaking of setting the bar high, Canon is preparing to release the new EOS Rebel 550/D T2i, which is supposed reconcile the lackluster T1i but not empty your wallet the way the “Canon Cadillac” 7D would. The T2i is almost half the suggested retail price of the 7D.

The T1i would shoot 1080p video at only 20fps or 720p video at 30fps with very little manual control. Now, the T2i offers greater manual control giving you the option of shooting 1080p video (1920×1080 px) at 30fps [29.97fps], 25fps or 24fps [23.976fps], 720p video (1280×720 px) at 60fps [59.94fps] or 50fps, or SD video (640×480 px) at 60fps [59.94fps] or 50fps.

The T2i also offers a 3.5mm (1/8″) port for audio recording as well as shooting up to 6400 ISO, 18 MP image capture and 3″ LCD viewing monitor.
